Bold Acts Begins!

Here we go!

What an incredible adventure we are on! Bold Acts is off to a great start!

What a great group of students we have here. We are so excited!

Topics this week so far have included- Budgeting, tool knowledge, and basic home repair and of course Bible Study.

At the beginning of the week we heard from one of the pastors at our church (Orlando Grace) on budgeting. It was very helpful and informative. The students got right to work on budgeting for this event.  Curtis and I gave them a certain amount of money and made them responsible for the food, gas, supplies, housing and activity budget. They divided it up and have been working really well as a team throughout this process.  It has certainly been eye opening as they have been figuring out how much to allot for each person for each meal as well as for each category.  We have heard comments like:

"Wow. I really appreciate the food more now that I've had to figure out how much it costs, and had to buy it and cook it."

"This adds up really fast."

"Get more and spend less."

"Can we sleep in the van?" - answer is no by the way...

"Fasting is for financial reasons." -Also kidding...

On a big shopping trip to Aldis they were looking at being a little bit over budget.  A sweet older lady randomly walked up to them and said I want to give you $5 to your budget.  That ended up to be almost the exact amount that they were over.  This was extremely impactful to them.

The tool knowledge and home repair has been good.  Our home is still standing! Its completely normal for the lights to flicker after changing the door knob right?  ;)

We are doing a Bible Study called Jesus, Continued... as well as studying the book of Acts.  It has lead to very deep discussions as we seek truth together.  The greatness of the gospel and the presence of the Holy Spirit is definitely a current theme through them both! We have had rich quiet times and times of worship also.

We have had fun spending one evening at a park and one evening at the beach.  The evening at the beach included a gorgeous rainbow, dolphins, and a Fidler crab! We are in awe of God's creation for sure!

We are onto Marianna, Florida this morning for disaster relief from Hurricane Michael. We will be working there for about a week.  Tools are packed, bags are packed, food is packed- here we go!

Enjoy some pictures :) Posts from the students coming soon!
